He has now made me salaried so I don't get overtime pay, yet I still have to do all the factory manual labor. Is this legal?

I am not a lawyer but I will tell you what people have told me over the years. If you are a salaried employee you are obligated to work 40 hour work weeks. Some employers work 4-10's and most work 5-8's. Since you are salaried you need to find out from your HR if you are Salaried or Salaried-hourly. If you are Salaried the more than not you cant get overtime. If you are salaried-hourly then you can get overtime after 40 hours. Also, I am told that if you are salaried then you can go home after your regular work day, depending if your company's normal work day is 8 hours or 10 hours. Salaried usually means that you are professionally responsible for your share of work. As long as your work is getting done then that is what you are getting paid for. In other words if you can get your work done in less than 8 hours then you get paid for 8 hours even if you get the work done in less than 8 hours. If you are a supervisor then you have authority to make others below you get the work done so that you can go home at a regular 8/10 hour day. If you truely are a supervisor your workers dont necesarilly expect you to do the physical work, however if you do decide to do some work along with your workers, you create the image of understanding your fellow workers and you lead by example. If you dont do any work then you leave room for workers to feel resentment to some degree. You need to tell your boss that you need to cut your hours down to the regular 40 hours per week and where/when needed you will work beyond only as needed, and that you will set up your workers to get the work done so that everybody goes home at a reasonable work-week. It is legal that your boss made you salaried and that you still are required to do the manual labor, but it is not legal for your company to work over 80 hours per week. Good luck

Look for good psychologist to handle work stress in New york city?
Feel strong work stress. Get depression. It affects physical health and family. We tried to see a psychologist but he did not help out except listening. Does anyone know good psychologist who is good at this situation? Prefer in the upper west side in New York city. Thanks a lot!

Find "Hot CoCo Puff" here on YA and as you are soliciting now...communicate.

If you're looking for a couples therapist, Dr. Sandra Guberman is excellent. I also saw her individually and found her to be very good at pin-pointing what I needed to see in myself and what I needed to work on. This helped my relationship tremendously. Dr. Guberman's office is on West End Avenue, just above 72nd St. You should be able to find her in the phone book.
