Before you worry about a realtor license, you should worry about a visa that permits you to work in the U.S., unless you have done that already. Having a realtor license won't do you much good if you're not allowed to run a business and/or sell U.S. properties.

G'day Steffany E, Thank you for your question. There is a union called the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators. I don't whether you have to join it but it has 76,000 members so membership is probably fairly common in New York theatre. Regards

Oh yeah. As the man says. What he didn't mention is that you have to be born into the union. If you don't have a relative who is a member, forget it.

Live in New Jersey work in New York City. Taxes
Live in New Jersey work in New York City. Taxes?
I live in Hudson County, New Jersey, but work in Manhattan. About 5% of my paycheck is deducted for state taxes. Will I get any of this back? What will I have to pay for New Jersey state taxes? I know a lot of people commute like this so if anyone that can explain the tax situation please help!! Thanks.

You will have to report all of your income on a NJ resident return. You will report the NY sourced part of you wage on a NY Non resident return. You will compute a tax credit on your NJ return for the tax paid to NY. However, since NY has a higher tax rate on income, the credit will be limited to the amount computed by using the NJ rate. IN all likelihood, you will not owe any Nj tax on the NY part of your wages. I don't know what state taxes they are deducting but I will guess it is NY. If that is the case, you probably will breakeven on your NJ return if all of your wages earned were from the NY job. This can get complicated. You should have a tax pereparer do the work this year due to the multi state issues involved.

does metro pcs work in new york?
im going to NY and im wondering if it will work there?

I see it on TV all the time here. http://www.metropcs.com/coverage/ (Enter address you plan to stay) http://www.metropcs.com/metrolocal/new_york/ (MetroPCS | NY) If your phone is old, you could have (no service/drop calls) problems. I had that when I was with Sprint and didn't have a dual mode phone. When I got a newer phone, my service improved over my 6 year old phone. You can always go to Walgreens and grab $10 phone to use. You can then sell it when you are done or keep it for you next trip.
