Dubai is a rich country with perhaps no.1 in multination envioirnent in Middle East and always have good openings for all types of trades. The local news papers GULF NEWS and KHALEEJ TIMES are the best sources of looking the jobs, you can even look their e-paper. No matter you are from USA or Egypt, but if a well qualified and strong in your own trade, its worth working location in the world. A draw back is just the weather for Europeans (June~August) very hot at out door. The rest is excelant.

dubai has lots of job opportunities but the thing is to have to be here and apply in person to get a job, you cannot get a job in dubai while sittig in NYC - come to dubai for a visit, check out its possibitlites and potential and meet people. this is the only way to get a job here it also depeds on which level you are switching, big level jobs are never easy as they require lots of money and you need to come here to develop PR and find a job to your level check out http://www.dubaifunholidays.com for more insight into dubai life and situations

how can my canadian girlfriend get a greencard to live and work in new york with me.

how can my canadian girlfriend get a greencard to live and work in new york with me.
We are an older couple who although live in 2 different countries we are only 20 minutes apart. We drive back and forth almost 3 times a week to visit and spend times together.. We are not professionals just an older couple living paycheck to paycheck and struggling as individuals.. We would like to just live together and share expenses instead of traveling back and forth every day or week for years. We know all about the visa filing route but we are of modest income and cannot afford the fees. She does not want to change her citizenship, just live with me in the states to share expenses as an older couple. Can she just get a green card to live with me and work a part time general labor job..

4 :
Get Married , then she gets a green card!!!!!!!
5 :
just get hitched already! i preform marriages and for under $200.00 your legally hitched with a pre nup so both have no obligation if there is a divorce. both countries have dual citizenship but with canada it is automatic. think how much money you will save on fuel alone, and taxes. gotta love the canadian tax laws on foreign income.
6 :
Um.....yeah, those are really hard to get today.
7 :
she can just move in with you without changing her citizenship and apply for a temporary working visa you don't need a green card ,all you need a working social security numbers or get a dual citizenship which available to Canadian. ,or just move in and cross the boundary at least once a month.
8 :
well you kind of have to have the job she would get to sponser the green card .... and you would she would also need a degree .... so I don't think it's likely that a part time job would allow her to do that ... the quickest and easiest route is to marry her .... you could just elope you know .... nothing fancy ... and no one really even has to know if you don't want ... or it is probably easier if you move to Canada .... just look into becoming a landed immigrant.
9 :
Marriage is the only way you can do this, it takes a while and you will not only have to pay the filing costs but will have to prove you can support her. Have you considered moving to Canada? It might be cheaper and easier.

I am now looking for a job in that area and I heard new york pays more but is it worth the commute, I mean its not like I'm gonna be working the best job I'm straight out off h.s graduation so I'm probably looking for a entry level job.

If that is all you can find then yes. Here is a job that is 1 hour commute from you in Stratford. If it is already filled or you do not qualify, see if they have anything else for you. Location: Stratford Description: Customer Service Reps with call center experience needed immediately for prestigious Stratford based company. Call Center Customer Service, MSword, Excel and Data Entry. Must have 1 year of call center, bank teller, disptaching experience or a college degree!! Hours for this position are from 12pm-9pm Friday through Monday with Tuesday through Thursday off. Must be able to work major Holidays as well. For immediate consideration, please apply on-line at http://www.tempedenhospitality.com or call (203) 945-2099. Salary: $11.00 - $13.00 /Hour Contact Person: Jessica McCoy Contact Email: n/a
2 :
Of course, Stamford is a good 45 or so minutes from Grand Central Terminal on the Metro-North's New Haven Line, and fare is very reasonable. A round trip peak ticket from Stamford to the City will cost you $24.50. You can purchase a weekly rail pass for $84 and get unlimited travel on the New Haven Line both during the peak and off peak periods. Good luck
3 :
Time-wise, commuting from Stamford is almost the same as commuting into Manhattan from some parts of Long Island, even some parts of Queens. In addition, many trains out of Stamford are express trains, stopping only at Stamford, Harlem, and Grand Central. If you find a worthwhile job near Grand Central, and you have a reliable way to get to and from Stamford station on Metro-North, then it might be worth it.

YUP. That's why I'll never be a salaried employee. It sucks.
3 :
are you looseing less people
4 :
I am not a lawyer but I will tell you what people have told me over the years. If you are a salaried employee you are obligated to work 40 hour work weeks. Some employers work 4-10's and most work 5-8's. Since you are salaried you need to find out from your HR if you are Salaried or Salaried-hourly. If you are Salaried the more than not you cant get overtime. If you are salaried-hourly then you can get overtime after 40 hours. Also, I am told that if you are salaried then you can go home after your regular work day, depending if your company's normal work day is 8 hours or 10 hours. Salaried usually means that you are professionally responsible for your share of work. As long as your work is getting done then that is what you are getting paid for. In other words if you can get your work done in less than 8 hours then you get paid for 8 hours even if you get the work done in less than 8 hours. If you are a supervisor then you have authority to make others below you get the work done so that you can go home at a regular 8/10 hour day. If you truely are a supervisor your workers dont necesarilly expect you to do the physical work, however if you do decide to do some work along with your workers, you create the image of understanding your fellow workers and you lead by example. If you dont do any work then you leave room for workers to feel resentment to some degree. You need to tell your boss that you need to cut your hours down to the regular 40 hours per week and where/when needed you will work beyond only as needed, and that you will set up your workers to get the work done so that everybody goes home at a reasonable work-week. It is legal that your boss made you salaried and that you still are required to do the manual labor, but it is not legal for your company to work over 80 hours per week. Good luck

New York State Tax.. how does it work?
how does the state tax in New York work? so there is a 4% state tax. and a county tax on top. but i've noticed on somethings, like shoes, the tax charged is only 4%. i'm asking in specific for New York City. could someone tell me generally how much tax is charged for things like clothing, shoes, accessories, micellaneous items, food, is?

You are referring to the sales tax in NY. There is also an income tax. The sales tax for NYC is composed of: NYS Tax: 4.00% Metro. Commuter tax: 0.375% NYC local sales tax: 4.500% Total sales tax: 8.875% Clothing and shoes under $110 is tax free.
2 :
The state sales tax is 4%. Every county as well as a few cities have an additonal percentage. Clothing under $110 is not taxed by the state, but can still be taxed by the county or city. So in many counties, clothing is taxed at a lower rate than everything else. Most grocery food, medicines, newspapers and magazines are not taxed. If you're really into it, here is the book that the state publishes for businesses on sales tax. http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/publications/sales/pub750_208.pdf

Not legally. Just as in any other country, foreign citizens in the U.S. must have a work visa to work...and that requires a contract from an employer who sponsors your work visa. So, unless you have a green card or a work visa, you would be working illegally.
3 :
Illegally, you could probably find someone who will hire you. It would have to be at a mom and pop bar. Legally, practically impossible. 1st off Brits are ineligible for the green card lottery (too many Brits already working in the US) and second you wouldn't qualify for an H1B visa. Bartenders aren't considered "skilled" workers. However, you may want to rethink doing it if you plan on doing it illegally. Unless you haven't heard, there is an issue in the US with illegal immigrants (some estimates are as high as 10% of the US population is illegal). The INS is severely cracking down. If caught, you will be sent to an INS detention center. You could be there for many many months until your case comes up. At that point you will be summarily deported.
4 :
You could if you were working for example Hilton or Marriott or the Ritz Carlton and you were to transfer from the UK to here. Otherwise, not so much.
5 :
Assuming that it is legal for you to work here, there is a healthy sized British population in the west village around Greenwich Street and West 11th. Try around there.

NO.. it will not work... playstation games are region coded just like dvd's so pakistani games will only work in PS2 and Ps3's from that region and U.S. games will work in only U.S. Playstations. Though you could probably mod either one to work with each other.

Bit odd you can be a bartender at the age of 18 if the legal age to drink is 21 where you are. The way it works over here is you have to be the legal age to do the legal thing to serve it (in the UK). I should imagine you could be a dishwasher at the age you are now, I washed up at my parents pub when I was 13 years old. I don't think there is any age limit on that.

I live in New Jersey but work in New York City. What state income taxes should appear on my pay stub?

United States - 6 Answers

1 :
New Jersey. Thats the state you have residence in.
2 :
New York. You file a non-resident NY state tax return, and you fiel a NJ state return and they credit you for taxes paid to NY.
3 :
Both NYC and NJ taxes should be deducted.
4 :
A company is required to deduct taxes based on where you work not where you live. A company, as a courtesy, can deduct residential state taxes if you request it and they agree to do this.
5 :
Usually your employer payroll department deduct the taxes for the state the income is earned in New York City. You do work in New York City so the NYC state income taxes would be the amount that is on your pay stub. You will have file the each 2 state income tax returns next year your resident state income tax return and the nonresident New Jersey state income tax return. You may be able to both of them online next year from each states website.
6 :
the employer is in NY, the pay stub will show NY income taxes your tax home is where you work on a long term regular basis short term, temporary assignments less than a year do not change your tax home(which is where you work normally) if this NY job does not appear to be permanent, you file NJ state return as normal and NY non resident/part time

yes. I believe New York State is one of the few states that requires the least amount of hours. I live in NY and I took cosmo
2 :
Different states have different hours that are required per state boards. You should first find out how many you need in connecticut and then also see what the requirements are for New york. Once you move however, and if your hours are right, i do believe you'd still have to get relicensed in New York. Just be sure though, that you don't need more hours, because that would mean going back to school in NY once you've already thought you were finished.
3 :
No. You need to be licensed in whatever state you live in, and depending on whether NY has more hours, You may have to go BACK to school and get those hours, and sometimes(most of the time, if the state has the same or less hours, and no reporocity) you will have to take the state board exam.

Work in New York, live in New Jersey, how should I file my taxes in NJ

Work in New York, live in New Jersey, how should I file my taxes in NJ?
My husband works in NY, and we live in NJ. My question is how do I file this for NJ? Do we get double taxed, should I expect a refund in any way? Where do I find the amount taxed? Is it based off of the entire income?
United States - 3 Answers

1 :
your tax home is where you work except for temporary short assignments you file NY state and non resident NJ
2 :
You file a non-resident tax return with NY. You also file a tax return with NJ, but you can probably deduct whatever you paid to NY.
3 :
NJ residents : NJ resident return Works in NY: NY Non-resident return You'll pickup up NY income on Both state returns. You will then include the NY taxes paid on NJ return as a tax credit to offset the NJ taxes! This is how you're double taxed on the NY income but then it's resolved by claiming the NY taxes as a credit on the NJ return. Note that the NY tax credit will be limited to NJ's tax rate so... 1. If NY's tax rate is 10% and NJ is 8%, then the tax credit will be limited to the NJ 8% amount. 2. If NY's tax rate is 6% and NJ is 8%, then you'll get to claim the entire NY tax as a credit against NJ's income tax. You should seek a local tax professional to assist you further!

IRS says your tax home is where you work, except for short, temporary, less than a year assignments therefore if this NY work is more or less permanent, you file a NY tax return, and pay NY taxes since you are living with your parents you don't actually have a household of your own if you have connections to Ct, ie. car registration, license, bank accounts etc. Ct. may demand a return from you but it should be a non resident/part time return

yup. probably.
2 :
In short, yes it will. In long, 99% of the time your carrier (as in Verison, Sprint, etc) will definitely work in big cities like NY and Boston. You mostly run into trouble in more rural areas. Also, your profile didn't say if you are from oversees. If you are are using an oversees carrier, then you may be in trouble. But as long as you are from the U.S. I can pretty much guarantee your phone will work. :)
3 :
it would depend on your mobile service provider, if they are active in the us then there is no reason for it not to work
4 :
Depends on the carrier and your location. If you are in the US with a US carrier it will work anywhere there is a tower within range of your mobile.(all major cities have cellphone towers all over) If you are not and are traveling to America check to see if your carrier supports roaming. My recommendation would be to buy a throw away phone(prepaid) if you are traveling to America if you are outside. Roaming charges can run your bill up high. Finding a place to live is going to be your biggest challenge. I'd check on Craig's List to get an idea of what you're going to have to pay. You can find a place through an assortment of Realtors on-line, but they typically charge a pretty hefty fee. I don't know what your budget is like, but there's a youth hostel on 104th Street and Amsterdam Avenue where you can stay temporarily until you find a place. Good luck. P.S. What sort of work are you looking for?
2 :
First) find a job here Second) find a place to live. It is pretty expensive. Check www.craigslist.com I don't know your financial situation but many young students share apartments because is cheaper... Go to the site i gave you and look for shares/roommates. good luck

I live in New York, can i work in New Jersey as an EMT?
I am a Certified EMT-B in Brooklyn, New York. I will be moving to New Jersey soon an would like to know if i would be able to work in New Jersey with my Regular certification or do i have to take the national registry?

You would probably have to take the National Registry Boards exam. There is an address on your license that you would be able to write and question. It probably has a telephone number also. You could also question the local rescue squad where you work. They would be most helpful.

I really need to get out of the town I live in, I'm not in any trouble but it's really a cruddy place to be. there is nothing to help me with the things I want to learn, there is no work. New York City is huge, and it seems there would be plenty of oppurtunities to find work and such. where can i go to find housing is my main issue. What else should i know or prepare for? Someone please help.

If you mean Housing from the state then, you have to be on a long waiting list. what you can do is live in an upstate new york town , take a 2 hour train ride and get a job in down town... good luck
2 :
Go on craigslist.org, look at the apartment listings (under no-fee) and/or shares (roommate situations), look up where the inexpensive ones are, and think about whether you can save up enough to get a start here in a safe area. If you're really set on moving to NYC, you might start by living upstate or in NJ and commuting, as someone else said. If it's just "big city" you want, understand that there are much cheaper options than NYC...but then NYC is unique... Good luck.

NYC is a great place to live, there are great oppurtunities there to make some serious cabbage if you have the skills! If your lucky enought to find even a studio apartment be ready to shell out some serious money, living is not cheap in NY. You could consider moving further upstate and commute to the city for work or play! Long Island is also an option but again not cheap but a bit closer to the city and the traffic is brutal on 495 but for the right money who care's! Search through realtor.com for rentals maybe you could share a place with a few good people! Or call a realtor from NY and they will give you a heads up! Do your home work before you go! Maybe you should go for a visit first and look around so you have a better idea of what your getting into! Good Luck
4 :
NYC is a great place to live and work. However, you will want to find a job first. Depending on your skills, its actually harder than you may think. 90% of employers require a 4 year degree to even grant you an interview. The starting pay is usually only around 30-35 k a year, which is good in other cities, but in NY is barely making ends meet. As far as housing, you will need first and last months, and security deposit, so plan on about 3500 if you find a cheap apartment. If you look very hard you may find something closer to 1000 a month, but you may be pretty far from the city. Try craigslist and or look for a roommate, or a few roommates.

try hospitals--does your area do candystriping or allow for volunteers in children's wards? I'm not sure what's around in your area, but perhaps behavior centers, nursing homes, etc. might help

Probably not, unless you can find a a rent controlled apartment or share an apartment.
2 :
Many flight attendants used to live in the Kew Gardens area in shared apartments. This is a short bus ride to Kennedy Airport and also convenient to La Guardia. I don't know if they still have this situation, however.
3 :
I live in Kew Gardens and know that many airlines own apartments in the area and help flight attendants and pilots find shares. Kew Gardens is approximately 10 minutes from JFK and 12 minutes from LaGuardia, and along with the airline shuttles for their workers, there is also public transportation that stops in the area. Its really a very nice area and the apartments are a decent size.

2 :
Employment eligibility verification is a federal requirement. That is, there are no specific residency requirements to work in NYC (other than some jobs working for the city, like NYPD or FDNY) that don't exist anywhere else in the US. The federal requirements are completely different than those for something like a NYS drivers license. Verification requirements are specified on the Department of Homeland Security's form I-9 which you'll fill out and which your employer must keep on file. You need documents that establish both your identity and your employment eligibility. Some documents do both, like a US passport, or a form I-766 Employment Authorization Document. If you have one of those ("List A" on the I-9 form), it's all you need. In other cases you need two different documents, one will establish your identity and the other your eligibility. For example, a drivers license (identity) and a Social Security card (eligibility)... one document from "List B" and one from "List C". It can get a little complicated, but the requirements and the types of documents that can satisfy them are at the end of this online form I-9: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf

You will have to file a state return for Connecticut (if they have one) you will have to file a non resident state tax for New york. Be sure it is non resident. you can also look up each state on the Internet they can help. EX New York department of revenue
2 :
Exactly like the other person said- you will file a Full year resident income tax form for CT and a non resident income tax form for NY - however - you will be able to take a credit on your CT tax form for the taxes you pay in NY so that you will not be paying double taxes. If in doubt about this - come tax time take your taxes to H&R Block. But when I had a similiar situation with RI and CT, I was able to download all forms and books right from the websites and do the taxes myself. Its a bit aggravating though..and even though you do get the credit back from NY towards CT..its still means you are paying more taxes than if you just worked and lived in one state.

Let's say I live in New Jersey and work in New York City. Is city tax deducted from my paycheck?
When I check out the paycheck calculator, I see that there's a section called "City tax". From that section, there's a pull down that gives the following options: "None", "New York City Resident", "Yonkers" and "Yonkers Non-Resident". If I work in NYC and live in NJ, which one applies to me?
New York City - 1 Answers

No it's not! You will have to fill out form IT 2014 to indicate that you are not a resident of New York City or Yonkers. The state still has the right to tax you but those two localities can't.
