how does disability work in new york

how does disability work in new york?
Ok I'm 35 weeks pregnant going on 36 soon...I spoke with my doctor and she told me I can apply for disability and she explained to me that at 37 weeks I can apply and I have to get a letter from the company I work for and then she'll sign it. But I'm currently working part- time, how much will I get? For how long and how long will it take to aprove? How does disability work??
